After the introduction of WP rewards for vehicle damage in 1.8 I have done some testing to come up with an explanation of how it works. First of all, the mechanic is a welcome addition to encourage those that felt chasing a HAV with a forge gun around a map was a thankless task post 1.7 (NB: It was). I also believe it could be modified to make it fairer and to avoid farming opportunities.
The rewards,as far as can be ascertained are from battlefield conditions, keep in mind it's hell on earth working with forge guns at the moment trying to kill things. Feel free to add whatever your findings may be. Of course these war points exclude the +50 you would get for killing the pilot with his vehicle.
HAV - Damage a HAV beyond it's shields - 75 WP Damage a HAV below 25% of its armor - 75 WP Destroy a HAV - 150 WP
Dropship - Damage a Dropship almost to shield depletion - 75 WP Damage a Dropship almost to armor depletion - 75 WP Destroy a dropship - 75 WP
LAV - Damage a LAV beyond its shields - 75 WP Destroy an LAV - 40 WP
Now for the oddities:
HAV's The war points aren't applied uniformly and I can't find an explanation for this. You can sometimes get a shield tanked HAV beyond its shields and receive no war points, at all. Yet, you get rid of the shields on an armor tanked HAV and you will receive +75. If anyone has a more precise explanation for this I'm open to it. Likewise if you somehow outright skip the 25% threshold and kill the HAV outright, you don't receive the +75 WP.
LAV's Major issues with LAV's: - I don't think it's really fair that you receive more WP for DAMAGING an LAV than actually destroying it - If you place 2 x remote explosives on LAV's you can sometimes receive 2 x 75 WP for damage + the 40 WP for destroying it, for a total of 190 WP for destroying a parked LAV! I haven't experimented enough but it seems that if you place the remote explosives on opposite ends of the LAV, the 2 x damage reward is activated... if they are close together, you only receive the 75 WP for damage + 40 WP for destroying it. Either way, I think this should be reduced for LAV's to +25 WP for damaging it, and maybe upping the WP for destroy it to +50 WP. Again, LAV's can potentially be farmed as people still own BPO's of these, so I think reducing WP rewards to acceptable levels would prevent this kind of behaviour.
Dropships - For dropships, same problem again, you get the same amount of WP for damaging it than you do for destroying it. You could adopt either the stance of increasing the WP rewards for destroying it - but not to the same level as HAV's or reduce the WP reward for damaging it. In my opinion Dropships are not as difficult to destroy as HAV's. Maybe a 100 WP reward for destruction and lowering the damage threshold to 50 WP might help this.
I'm open to anyone's experience with the WP rewards for vehicles. You've probably noticed some oddities I haven't. Has anyone played around with flux grenades and received WP rewards for stripping shields?

Is this really gamebreaking? You can't farm the WP because of CCP's WP cap, and it allows AVers to place higher than 8th place. the 75WP is also neccesary due to the difficulty of killing Dropships and Fitted LAVs.
Don't get me wrong, for me it isn't gamebreaking, and is a part of the solution for those poor souls who spend their matches lugging around forges (or those that are brave enough to try swarms) it could just be tweaked. The LAV is the odd man out - 75 war points just for damaging seems a tad high, while you're rewarded with a paltry 40 WP for destroying them - the effort required to damage an HAV is proportionally more and has the same reward.
The WP rewards still don't apply consistently across armor/shield HAV's - have you had similar experiences? I think the algorithm isn't just "Do X damage then reward 75 WP" but it actually has to cross certain thresholds... like a percentage of shields or armor totals...
